The name of the city “Silicon valley of India” is not obtained in a single day, as it is due to its consistency in providing huge opportunities to such industries from the past that started in the year 1985 by the establishment of Texas Instruments, the first multinational corporation to set up its base in the city. Today the city is the 4th largest technological hub in the world and largest in whole of Asia.
While along with being the technological hub the industries of micro and small enterprises that focus on artisans, large scale manufacturing companies, like GE, Kirloskar, Volvo, L&T etc, engineering industries like Wheel and Axle plant, BEL etc and medium scale industries co-exists in this city.
